Anemone Is Not The Enemy

Shortlisted to be the 2021 CBCA Early Childhood Book of the Year this is a fun take on the symbiosis between anemones and clownfish. Anemone is desperate to make friends but this is hard as anyone left in the tidal pool at low tide gets stung. Until a clown fish discovers that it is immune to the sting and would prefer to take its chances in the little pool than in the wide ocean.

This book is perfect for children in Pre-School or Kindergarten who are learning to make friends. We have made 6 activities for this book which include a fun memory game to build memory and problem solving skills, a fine motor skills practice tracing activity, a colour by number to teach number recognition, how to draw a clown fish, making a pom pom anemone like the picture in the story and a cut and paste activity of the food chain in the sea.

The games below are advertisement free and will open in a new window. They can be played by children online as many times as they like. The Match Up Memory Card Game will allow children to improve their memory while the Maze Game lets them develop strategy and problem solving skills while having fun. These games will also build children's attention, concentration and focus, visual recognition and short-term memory. Enjoy.
